AeroGarden Accessories

Being a successful product it only makes sense that AeroGrow International would come up with a number of add-on products for those of us addicted to our new kitchen gardens. While most of the items are visual touches such as imitation butterflies and even pet repellant there are a few interesting items which we will cover here.

Shelf Wall Mounts:

There are two variations of wall mounts currently being offered. The first is a is called the 1 shelf wall garden which is a stainless steel shelf mount for you guessed it, a single AeroGarden. The second variation is a little more interesting, the 3 shelf wall garden is designed to hold up to 3 AeroGarden’s stacked 1 on top of the other.

Now personally, after using my AeroGarden for a few months now I can definitely understand people wanting to use the single shelf mount, especially in small kitchens, but the three shelf mount as interesting as it is seems excessive and here’s why:

If you’re using three AeroGarden’s then chances are your growing more then parsley and chives. Now this becomes an issue because for most non-herb plant’s you need to make use of the extendable hood feature, but the shelves aren’t spaced out enough to allow you to do that.

Also assuming that isn’t a problem for you, how about the height? That’s right, in a public space it doesn’t look right mounting the shelf wall garden unless it’s centered with the wall which means whatever plant end’s up on the top shelf is going to be difficult to maintain, harvest and don’t get me started on getting power to the shelf itself…

Overall:

I would say the shelf wall garden idea is a good one, at least on paper. In reality it doesn’t make much sense unless you’re also willing or have access to power right where you mount them.

Visual Upgrades

Aerogrow International also sells three visual upgrades in the form of butterflies and dragonflies. These can add a personal touch especially if your garden is in your kitchen.

For review purposes I purchased the orange butterfly and I can safely say they are an interesting novelty. The wings actually move as air moves over them however in most situations they just stand still.

However they do look quite realistic and help make the AeroGarden a conversation piece for friends who may not have seen yours yet.

Overall:

These aren’t for everyone and at $19.95 + shipping they are quite expensive but if your into butterflies or dragonflies or like keeping a colorful house then these may be for you!

Deluxe Upgrade Kit

So you purchased an AeroGarden Classic and now you’re hooked on aeroponics, but you don’t want to shell out for a second garden. Well the good folks at AeroGrow thought of something to help you out!

It’s called the Deluxe Upgrade Kit and while it doesn’t enable the 24 hour light cycle in a regular Deluxe AeroGarden. It does give you the extendable arm and a new lamp hood with the three lamps and extra light output that owners of the Deluxe enjoy.

It currently cost’s $109.95 so it’s not cheap but still far less then buying a whole new Deluxe garden if you don’t need one.
